Global Recruiting

Global Recruiting

Most People will ride on mass recruitment orchestrated by personnel department. Students and parents are running around in recruitment season.

However, is there any other way? What will be an ideal job searching method for newly graduate in the internet  prevailing world?

Now lots of people in the industries are on YouTube, SNS as well as home page to have bilateral communication.

If below are done on top of normal recruitment activities, intern as well as job hunting will be successful, I believe.

Join industrial forum on SNS
Question researchers as well as people in the industry, on career path, matter of interest as well as unclear topics in mind.
Post self analysis on his/her homepage to have discussion in SNS.
Publish self promotion video on YouTube

From firm's point of view, students,  who are interested in the field of industry and actively working on the relevant topics, are good candidates for graduate recruitment.

If he/she has good English proficiency, the future possibilities will further expand. Also, if he/she really have something they want to work on, and also that is on professional level, then there will be no issue and moreover, no need for job search.

Life long employment era is over.  No one should expect that the 1st job will be the last job.

Career path needs to be revisited every three years while looking around the world all the time.

Ideal Social Reform

Ideal Social Reform

Trump and Brexit phenomena is the result of naked capitalism went too far.

The only way left is to support and re-educate people left over as a result of transition.

There is same pattern among conflicts happening globally.

Industry develops and become developed country

FX rate of base currency is appreciated high, making domestic production's relative cost as expensive.

Productions are moving away to developing country under fabless scheme to maximize competitiveness as well as profit.

Jobs are gone as a result of less domestic production transferred offshore.

Furthermore, jobs are gone as a result of import of cheaper labor.

Industry hollowing, unemployment and disparity of wealth go extreme to the point of creating social instability.

This transition is very much rational from economic point of view, hence extreme measures, such as pushing other country to purchase own country's products, will soon face limitation.

So far, developed countries are mainly coping with these problems by below 1) mainly but not really by 2) below.

Keep leading the top of new technologies.

Support and re-educate people left deserted

Currently, there are lots of discussion on basic income etc. World is already recognizing the importance of this issue. Ideal social reform can be achieved by this support and re-education of people left deserted.

IT Consulting Tour

IT Consulting Tour

Heard of one guy travelling around county sides for IT consulting riding converted truck.

Now we are living in a regime where IT changes whole game especially in countrysides however, IT literacy there, is sometimes minimal.  So he sleeps on the track for cost cut then has been helping people just like Kurosawa`s 7-Samurai, going around Japan for IT consulting.

Lots of new demands can be created just by putting them up on internet.  There is another story on a guy challenging internet marketing for minor fishes.  There are quite a few minor fishes when fisherman pull out fishing net from sea, but those minor fishes are either thrown away on spot or consumed by locals who know how to cook. He saw such as a waste, then uploaded minor fish info on web, then shipped to customers.

These types of developments should be everywhere global. Dig up new demand connecting to supplier.  Modern market is in cyber space. There will be unlimited work to be done.

Fun of Programming

English Follows

Fun of Programming

Programming is fun.

In 1980's, I did card deck input, line printer output on IBM360, later TSS terminal. Stayed in TSS room from morning to night. Recall, microcomputer was TK80 that time.  Joined company and found paper-tape-input based computer was used extensive. Later, I had mini computer with CRT in office.  Editor was Vi. PCs are all 8 bit and disks were floppy.  Japanese word processor was everywhere and spread sheet software Multi Plan was just released. Apple was expensive while Windows was very unstable. People used programmable calculator. There was not internet.

The power of computer made me crazy. Computer executes lots of calculations impossible to do by hand. I thought it was an accelerator of intelligence.

40yrs later, computer language, development environment and speed were improved drastically. Let`s challenge programming once more after 30yrs,  remembering the 1st impression when I touched computer for the 1st time!

Good School / Good Company

English follows

Good School / Good Company

Up until 30yrs ago, it was typical to go good university, then go good company until retirement. Higher education and employment at big company were typical image for success.

Now lifelong employment became illusion, then time comes for periodical revaluation of labor market value of yourself. Even now still, university name works for sometime after freshman however, for further career development, career history, i.e., what you have done, means most.

If you know what you want to do even before entrance exam for university, it is better building up career as soon as possible or start up business on your own to have great success.  However, if you do not know what you want to do, it will be better to finish up good university and go any company, then think what you really want to do. Japanese company get massive freshman, then educate to let them start up in society anyway.

For freshman, good school and good company approach still provides some risk hedge and safety net, nevertheless not really effective as before.

Basic Tips for Presentation

English Follows

Tips for Presentation

1)Focus on 3 points concisely. No need to be cover all points.
2)Even if you wish to cover all, intentionally leave other points for questions that may come later.
3)Make power point concise and optimum.
4)To answer for questions from audience, reply answer 1st, then explain further details.  If do not know the answer, explicitly states that you do not know.
5)Speak slowly with confidence and loud crisp voice.
6)Adjust level of contents depending on the level of audience.
7)Record presentation and watch/listen later.
8)Let others speak. Be a good listener.

Basics but tend to forget.  Rather important points. With confidence is especially important. If you look not confident when you speak, you tend to be cornered by lots of questions.

US Certified Public Accountant (CPA), tips to get passed

To Engineers ... Hint to pass CPA(Certified Public Accountant, US)

.. English follows ..

How to pass CPA(US)

This is a memo of tips for engineers, who do not even know what balance sheet is, to pass United States public certified accountant test.

1. Run through Wiley 8 rounds but not look for short cuts(Royal Road)
2. Train to the level to see what is questioned even if question is incomplete
3. Use audio tape to learn business law and audit

I completed public certified accountant test 25 years ago. It took 2 years, 4 trials. Joined prep school and tried many study methods talking to classmates over shortcuts. 1st trial no credit. 2nd trial, passed financial and control accounting. 3rd time no credit, and 4th time, finally got passed all subjects with audits and business law.
Prep school was good to find people with same objective but discussion over best study method(Royal Road) did not help. My conclusion was to `Run though another question if you have time to discuss`. Brought heavy Wiley everywhere and solved questions one after another, on the train, bathroom, etc.  After 8 round, ended up solving totaling 20K questions, then basically remembering all questions hence could solve faster.
Questions were not always logically perfect ( i.e., included tacit conditions ), hence it was important to understand what examiner really wish to be answered. The most difficult part of this test is to adjust my mentality to those who created the test.
