北海道でナキウサギを見た！
I saw a northern pika in Hokkaido!
８月の初旬、北海道でナキウサギを発見！小道をクマに用心しながら１０分ほど歩くと、すでに数人の人が。午前中に出たが、その後出ていないということで、音を立てずにじっとガレ場を見つめる。In early August, I spotted a northern pika in Hokkaido! After cautiously walking along a trail for about 10 minutes, mindful of bears, I found a few people already there. They mentioned that the pika had appeared in the morning but hadn’t been seen since, so we quietly watched the rocky slope without making a sound.
すると、だれかが小さな声でイタッと叫ぶ。すると一匹のナキウサギが、皆の前にあいさつでもしに来るように登場。しばらくするとあっと言う間にいなくなった。Suddenly, someone whispered, "There it is!" A northern pika appeared as if to greet us, but after a short while, it quickly disappeared.
場所は北海道の山にはどこにでもありそうなガレ場。The location was a rocky slope, typical of those found in the mountains of Hokkaido.
