まだゾウリムシ一匹つくれない
Cannot create even Paramecium
小学生の子供が友達からもらって世話していたザリガニが大変なことになった。水槽から夜の間に逃げ出し15mほど離れた本棚にいるところを発見し、水槽に戻したが１日ほどして息絶えた。There was a big accident on a crayfish my kid got from friend some time ago. The crayfish escaped from fish pool during night and found 15m away close to book shelf. We put the crayfish back to fish pool but one day later, the crayfish passed away.
脱皮を何回も繰り返し、餌をハサミをかざして要求し、パクパク食べていたので残念だ。子供は小さなお墓を作って埋葬した。The crayfish repeated molting and requested food by swinging arms to snap eagerly, hence the loss made us feel sad. My kid buried it under a small grave.
ザリガニは水槽からの夜間の脱出に際し、いろいろなことを考え、試しただろう。人間に比べると、はるかに簡単な脳ではあるが、生存、経路探索など、基本的なロジックはすべて備わっている。水中の障害物に当たらず、猛烈な速さで逃げる様は素晴らしい。The crayfish must have thought of many things and tested to achieve escape during the night from fish pool. It has far simple brain compared to human but is equipped with all basic logics such as survival, path search etc.
遺伝子が解明され、コロナのワクチンは塩基配列レベルでの設計に基づき製造される時代になったのは素晴らしいことだ。人間はウイルスは作れるレベルに近づいてきた。It is really fantastic to see the development of the gene technology up to the point to be able to create Covid-19 vaccine based on design from gene sequence information. Human being is coming up to the stage to be able to create virus.
しかし、考えてみると、人間は、ザリガニはおろか、まだゾウリムシさえも作ることはできない。遺伝子の構造、生命の構造の解明はまだ始まったばかりだ。However, human being cannot create the crayfish nor even paramecium. The study on gene and life structure has just got started.
子供達には是非チャレンジしてもらいたい。I wish my kids to challenge revealing all these secrets.
