How to fix Google Home
基本、Google Home Miniのハードウエアは壊れない。Google Home Mini's hardware will rarely brick.
ところが、定期的なファームウエアのUpdateがうまくいかずソフト的に壊れてしまうことがある。 However, periodical firmware update sometime fails hence it bricks from software perspective.
この場合、本体底面のボタンを長く押してFactory Resetできるようになっている。Even if this happens, factory reset by long-pushing bottom button should be possible.
ところが、このファームウエアのUpdateで問題が生じると、ボタンを押してもリセットが効かないことがあって、問題になっている。 However, now it became a problem since sometimes this factory reset stops working when firmware update fails.
Googleは１年の保証期間を超えても交換に応じると言っているようだ。Google looks saying that it will replace even after 1yr warranty period if it bricks due to firmware update problem.
しかし、その前に自分でやってみることがある。But there is one thing you can do before going to Google.
コンピュータ系の機械はなんでもそうだが、内部に入っているコンデンサーの影響で、完全なリセット状態にならないことがある。Many of computer equipped machines sometimes will not completely reset due to the capacitor(condenser) used inside.
この場合、電源コードを抜いてから一晩、１日ほっておくと、完全にコンデンサーが放電されて完全な初期状態にもどることがある。Hence holding for 1 night or 1 day, after totally unplugging the power AC code, can sometimes initialize the machine completely after capacitor(condenser) is totally discharged.
昨日、私のGoogle Homeが白いランプが４つ付いたまま、リセットボタンにも反応しなくなった。一晩、電源を抜いてほっておいてから、今朝再度リセットをかけたところ、うまくリセットプロセスが起動して復旧した。Last night, my Google Home's 4 LED lit white but stopped responding to all actions including reset button long-push. I left machine for one night after unplugging power AC, then tried reset this morning once more. Now reset button initiated reset process, and all recovered.
