20代の頃、ヨーロッパをユーレイルパスとユースホステルで一人、２か月バックパック旅行した。In late twenties, I did 2month backpack trip around Europe by myself on Eurail pass and Youth Hostels.
バックパック旅行では、大きなバッグには着替えなど、小さな肌身離さない貴重品の入ったバックパックの２段階のセキュリティーとする。だた、一人なので、トイレに行くときとか、大きなバッグをただ外に放置しておくと、無くなってしまうこともあるから不安だ。2 level security control was set, i.e., big bag for changes while valuables in small backpacks kept around you all the time. Since I was alone, I needed to worry about losing bug if I just left it outside whenever necessary, such as toilet etc..
そこで、ほかのバックパッカーもやっていた魔法の言葉がある。Hence, there was a magic words shared among backpackers.
荷物を見ていてくれませんか？
Can you watch my bag please？
この一言でＯＫだ。もちろん、その場に長居しそうな人を見つけて、人となりを直観でチェックして、お願いする。また、情報交換するきっかけにもなる。This just one word really worked. Of course it was essential due diligence to look for someone who may stay there longer, together with reliable atmosphere judged from intuition. This also made chance to exchange information.
これで大きなバッグがなくなったことは一度もなかった。By this way, I never experienced losing bags so far.
