Future Covid Cure, Make Omicron!
オミクロンを作れ！なんて、頭が変になったのか？ How come Omicron needs to be created? Went nuts finally?
と言われそうだが、これはパンデミックを終息させるための一つのアイディアだ。That will be the expected reaction but this is one idea to stop pandemic.
オミクロンがデルタを置き換えてパンデミックが終息するという仮説の上に考えてみた。This is based on the assumption that Omicron replaces Delta to terminate the pandemic.
ウイルスは常に変異を続け、最後は弱毒・高感染力ウイルスに変異するらしい。It looks like virus keeps mutating and finally evolve to highly infectious but with minimal toxicity.
一方、既存のウイルス種は、変異種が出ると置き換えられて消滅するようだ。Meanwhile existing virus is replaced by the newly mutated virus, the going extinct.
であるならば、遺伝子工学を使って、初めから人為的に強毒な既存のウイルスの弱毒・高感染力ウイルスを製造し、集団免疫状態を作ることでパンデミックを終息させることが出来るのではないだろうか？If so, why not create artificial virus that is highly infectious but with minimal toxicity, then create herd immunity. Genetic engineering then can stop pandemic.
手順はこうだ。Process will be like,
Step1）強毒ウイルスの流行が始ったら、強毒ウイルスを遺伝子解析する。Once highly toxic virus starts to spread, analyze its gene structure.
Step2）強毒ウイルスの弱毒・高感染力版ウイルスを製造する。Develop and produce highly infectious but with minimal toxicity version of highly toxic virus.
Step3）弱毒・高感染力版ウイルスを人為的に流行させることで、強毒ウイルスを自然消滅させる。Let highly infectious but with minimal toxicity version of virus to go around artificially, then let toxic virus to be replaced to go extinct.
今回のオミクロンがヒントとなって、究極の遺伝子創薬？につながることに期待したい。Hope that the Omicron this time will be a hint to develop an ultimate genetic medicine.
